New Project Proposal

For my new project i am designing posters for events for Trengwainton Gardens for example they are holding a Wet Nose Day which is a day when they let people bring there dogs into the gardens and i thought they could do a dog treasure hunt, where they have to look round the gardens for hints and with the hints there will be some information with the flowers or trees which they are near. So i am also going to design some maps for the hunt. And when they collect all the little hints and figure it out they will win a prize for there dog and them as well.
The also are having an easter egg hunt aswell for easter so i will also design maps for that aswell which is the same idea the only thing different obviously is that the hints will be different and so will the prize but it is the same in you have to collect and work out the hints to win the prize in the end.
I thought these ideas would be good because they will work as a team and also have fun and look at the flowers and plants they have at the garden but also getting information still about the plants so they are not ignoring the gardens and just looking for the hints. It will also be good for the dogs as they will have a walk around the gardens with the owners and they will get a prize after wards.
The children will have fun as well because for the easter egg hunt with the hints they will have little chocolate eggs as well so they still have something if they dont win the prize in the end.

Penwith Radio

Our group went and visited Penwith Radio which is a community radio station broadcasting from the Wharfside in Penzance. We interviewed Julian Horner and took some photos as well. They were very interested to get involved with our year group to widen the audience to appeal the whole of the community. Our interaction project could be an offline radio show using Logic Pro and we could also have the opportunity if we get into the idea to have work experience there as well as it would be a good opportunity as we like media based work.

Tate Gallery

We all went to Tate Gallery in St ives and sat down with Rebecca who co-ordinates education activities which are a part of the Tate's remit and a reason it receives a government grant.

We had a tour round the gallery and the focus at the moment is there new exhibition. The artist is called Lily Van der Stokker who has drawn directly on the gallery's walls. When i looked at the pieces they seemed child like and very Innocent. I really like how different they are to other artists and i really liked the new exhibition they have in there as i think everyone would like her work not just a certain audience. There was Sofas in there with paintings behind them on the wall and even though it doesnt sound that interesting you completely think differently when you actually go there and see the work she has done there.

Targets

Here are tha targets that i set with becky today.
By the end of the day i will update my blog in order to try to reach a higher mark band for assignment 2.
By the end of the week i will complete my evaluation on commission
By the end of the week i will catch up with everyone.

Target Audience

Our target audience would be 17 up wards year olds as they will be more into our film, as I don’t know the history of St Ives and I would like to know and I’m sure plenty of people my age would want to know the history of St Ives if they live there.

Proposal

We plan to make a short film in St Ives of the beach, sea and the island to show St Ives in the past and how much it has changed. We are using some archive footage and do some filming ourselves as well. We are not planning to have any voice over in the short film but we are going to either use our own music or we want the music to be calm and relaxed, as we want the audience to think for themselves and to contemplate, because everyone is going to think differently.

We want to put in the film of modern St Ives and then archive footage next to each other to show how much that certain place has changed. We want fairly still shots. We are thinking of some of the experimental shots could be of children playing on the beach or running across the sand as there are lots of children on the beaches in St Ives.

And also a sunset shot because we thought this would be a nice clip to put into our film. It wont be just the tourists we are going to be filming we want to get there early hours so we can get the calm point in St Ives.

We want to reveal the hidden St Ives as not many people know a lot about St Ives apart from the beaches and there is so much more to know about the place.

As Harriet lives in St Ives she will be doing most of the filming and photographs and I will be doing most of the editing as I don’t live there, but I will go over and help her film when she needs my help as we are working together. We thought of this idea as many people will not know a lot about the history and what St Ives used to look like as they may be to young, not lived down here to long or has not even thought about what St Ives used to look like as they might not be many short films that tell them.

When the audience finish looking at our video we want them to be thinking a lot and I think from the ideas we have already go this will make them do that definitely.

We think that this will take us 5 weeks to do

Week 1- Plan Ideas, what we need to take and where we want to film.

Week 2 – Looking at the old footage

Week 3 – We want to go to St Ives and start filming and take pictures

Week 4 – Finish off filming and start editing

Week 5 – Finish off the editing that needs doing and complete our video.
